Why MUDTeCH™ is the Best in Milwaukee Landscape Curbing
What is Madison Landscape Curbing
Wisconsin landscape curbing is the newest way for homeowners and businesses to add value and curb appeal to their home. When beautiful landscaping requires frequent maintenance, edging, or landscape curbing, may be considered. With all the edging options (steel, brick, wood, plastic, and now concrete), it can be a time-consuming task to select and install the proper edging for your landscape.
Madison concrete landscape curbing is the most maintenance free of all the types of edging. This landscape curbing must be done by a professional concrete contractor. As Milwaukee and Madison’s concrete and asphalt experts, MUDTeCH™ should be your number one choice for your new Madison landscape curbing.
Madison concrete landscape curbing gives homeowners and businesses the ability to choose the color of the concrete and can be placed in a straight line or a curved line. These custom design options allow homeowners to tailor the concrete curbing to match their house or accent their yard.
Concrete landscape curbing can be utilized in a variety of locations, such as flower or garden beds, tree edging or circles, walkways or driveways, parks and playgrounds, fence and property lines, ponds or pools, parking lots, golf courses, sand boxes, and much more.
As with all concrete, enough time must be given for the curbing to set. The concrete curbing should not be allowed to get wet for at least 48-72 hours, and should not be walked upon, rolled over, or even touched during that time. MUDTeCH™ will sit down with you to go over these instructions and give you tips to keep your new Madison concrete landscaping in perfect condition during the setting process.
Advantages to Wisconsin Concrete Landscape Curbing
Concrete landscape curbs have several advantages over their wooden, plastic, or brick counterparts. Wooden edging will rot, splinter, and serve as a home to termites and other bugs that will destroy the quality and look of the wooden edging. Plastic curbing is most often prone to breaking and shattering, making replacements necessary throughout the life of your property. Rough kids, rogue lawn mowers, and even animals can cause the plastic edging to crack, break, and lose its curb appeal. Brick edging is susceptible to moving over time, reducing the value and the look of the edging.
Opt for a more permanent landscape edging piece – concrete curbing. Milwaukee concrete landscape curbing is the best way to keep your landscape looking beautiful, prevents weed and grass growth into the landscape bed, and is almost completely maintenance free.
Installation of Milwaukee Landscape Curbing
Step 1 - Outline the desired layout with marking paint. At this point it is easier to see what the final design will look like. Changes to the layout can easily be done at this stage to the customer's preference.
Step 2 - Prep the yard with an 8" wide by 1" deep trench. The machinery used for this step is the size of a wheel barrow or smaller. There is very little impact on the surrounding landscape in this or any portion of the process.
Step 3 - Mix the precise amount of custom aggregates and admixtures on site to produce a "zero slump" colored concrete.
Step 4 - Extrude the concrete curb with small, lightweight curbing machine.
Step 5 - Hand towel and finish the freshly placed concrete curb. This is a very important step in creating a beautiful curb that is level and has smooth flowing lines. A lack of skill in this step will create a curb that lacks the professional look that our customers expect and deserve.
Step 6 - The customer’s choice of texture and stamping patterns are hand placed onto the surface of the freshly placed curb prior to initial set-up of the concrete.
Step 7 - Cut control joints every 2 feet in the placed, toweled, and stamped concrete curb to ensure adequate expansion and contraction joints. The continuous galvanized steel cable running through every foot of curb ensures these control joints will stay aligned and looking great for many years to come.
Step 8 - A protective sealer is applied to seal in the color and seal out the weather. The sealer will provide an added depth to the color of the landscape curbing.
Brookfield Landscape Curbing Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my new landscape curbing project take?
Landscape curbing installation usually takes about an average of four to eight hours, but is dependent on the amount of curbing and space needed to cover.
What kind of damage will be done to my yard or landscape beds during the landscape curbing?
Generally none! The equipment used to install your new landscape curbing is small and light. For the first few days you might see where footprints or a wheelbarrow tire pushed the grass down. Accidents can happen, but our operators are very professional and thoughtful when working around your flowers, foliage, and other details in your landscape bed. We use utmost caution and care so as little as possible or nothing is affected during the landscape curbing installation process.
How will my landscape curbing hold up over time?
It's concrete! With proper care and maintenance, your landscape curbing will last for many, many years. During installation of your landscape curbing, expansion joints will be placed throughout the curb, to allow for small amounts of expansion and contraction from frost or heat. The expansion joints are cuts across the body of the curb, are spaced accordingly with the pattern chosen, and usually hidden in part of the stamped texture. The expansion joints also keep cracking elsewhere in the body or curb to a minimum.
How much does landscape curbing cost?
The cost of each individual landscape curbing depends on several factors, such as how much is installed, the style chosen, and the condition of the installation site (i.e. tree roots, rocks to be moved, etc).
